Frame cottage, two stories, with cruciform configuration and cross-gable roof. Front gable with bell cast roofline: steeply pitched at center gable, lower pitched at sides. Foundation concealed by diamond lattice skirting; cove siding; asphalt shingle roof. Two-story full-width front porch. First-floor porch, slightly wider than second-floor porch, has paired turned posts, flared shingle-sided rail, flattened arch spandrels with shingles; partially screened. Second-floor porch has turned posts, double-band rail with spindles over pierced panels; flattened arch spandrels at front, pierced-panel frieze at sides. Whimsical, complex gable decoration includes diagonal cross frieze band, band of X-pattern pierced panels with larger field of pierced dot ornament above, decorative truss, board-and-batten siding at peak, brackets, exposed eaves. First-floor porch shelters single door, at center, two-over-two window at either side; two-over-two window and secondary door at left (southwest) side; screen conceals additional openings. Second-floor porch shelters single door. Bands of pierced scalloped trim continuous at eaves. Side gables with decorative truss, decorative vertical siding. Right (northeast) gable with decorative vertical siding at second-floor level. Side windows generally two-over-two double-hung wood sash. Shed-roof addition at rear.

History: This cottage was one of 12 used as boarding houses for the Rochester Hotel, ca.1912-1968. The original cottage lease dates to 1876 but the cottage was likely built a few years later.
