Description & Additional Information

Frame cottage, one story, with irregular rectangular footprint and cross-gabled roof. Wood piers on concrete foundation; foundation concealed by diamond lattice skirting; cove and vertical board siding; asphalt shingle roof. Two distinct sections, believed to have been two separate cottages later joined: front-gabled at far left, side-gabled at right, with side-gabled connection between them. At right: one-story, partial-width front porch with chamfered posts, flat-sawn balusters, scrolled brackets, flat-sawn trim. Porch shelters single door, at center, with one-over-one window at either side. At left: front gable, forms roof sheltering front deck leading to paneled entry door flanked by two-over-two wood windows. Gable features decorative truss and stickwork; open eaves. Trim at front eave, ribbon window at front. Diagonal stickwork at left (southwest) and rear of front-gabled section. Connector between the two distinct sections has cove siding and a horizontal, three-part picture window. Side windows include two-over-two and forty-over-one double-hung wood windows. Exposed rafter rails, sliding window, and entry porch, at rear. This cottage was originally two separate cottages—one front-gabled and one side-gabled hall-and-parlor house—that were connected by the central hyphen in 1969; the footprints of the separate cottages can be seen on the 1924 Sanborn map.
