Description & Additional Information

Frame cottage, two stories, with generally T-plan footprint and cross-gabled roof. Foundation concealed by square lattice skirting; cove siding; asphalt shingle roof. One-story full-width front porch, with turned posts, turned balusters, plain frieze band. Above left (south) bay of porch is a one-bay second-floor closed-gable projection with one-over-one window at front and sides, square one-light window and fishscale in gable. At right the porch has a catslide roof extending from north cross-gable wing. Porch shelters single door, at center, one-over-one window at either side. Pedimented entry porch projects behind front porch at right side, behind which is the projecting north cross-gable wing. South side has a two-story projecting bay with cutaway corners and a closed-gable roof, next to a chimney. Side gables have fishscale shingles matching front gable. Cornice continuous at eaves. Side windows generally one-over-one double-hung wood windows. Lower two-story rear addition with integral porch.

History: The 1914 Sanborn map did not show a cottage on this lot, suggesting this cottage was moved to this site after the 1912 fire. It does appear on the 1924 Sanborn map.
