Description & Additional Information

Ed Page, owner-designer (first section of cottage, at northwest), Steve Taylor, builder. Frame cottage, 1 ½ stories plus attic; atypical orientation set on a diagonal, with primary facade facing northeast. Parallel gables at both front (northeast) and southeast side. Foundation concealed by diamond lattice skirting; board-and-batten siding; asphalt shingle roof. Primary facade has two principal components: at left is a section resembling a traditional campground cottage, with a relatively steeply pitched front-gabled roof and two-story front porch; adjacent to this, at right, is a section with a broader front-gabled roof and projecting, hip-roofed front porch. First-floor porch, spanning both sections, set back at right side, has square posts, square balusters at left side and paneled solid-sided rail at right side, elaborate scrolled brackets, plain frieze band; screened. Second-floor porch, at left side only, has square posts and square balusters; screened. Left gable has decorative truss, scrolled brackets, decorative trim, exposed rafters. Screen obscures porch openings. Right gable has paired eight-over-eight window above porch, circular vent in gable, and decorative trim. Trim continuous along eaves. Left (southeast) side has two parallel gables, steeply pitched, with double doors and paired windows; a shallow open deck spans this side of the cottage. Additional cross gable on northwest side with side entrance. Board-and-batten clad chimney. Side windows generally eight-over-eight and six-over-six double-hung wood windows. House constructed in two phases: right (northwest) section in 1985-86, left side more recently. Noncontributing due to age.
