Frame cottage, two stories, with irregular cruciform footprint and complex roofline including prominent front gable and multiple eaves. Foundation concealed behind square lattice skirting; cove siding; asphalt shingle roof. One-story, full-width front porch wraps right (southwest) corner. Additional second-floor porches at right (southwest) and at left (northeast). First-floor porch with square posts; double band rail, spindles over pierced panels; arched spandrels with fish scale shingle siding. Second-floor porch at right with square posts, solid-sided rail with vertical boards, and arched spandrels with fish scale shingle siding. Small second-floor integral porch at left with square posts, square balusters, and pierced brackets. Gable with square butt shingles, flared eave at right, oval window, box brackets at front and right. First-floor porch shelters double front door, at center, with one 16/1 double-hung window at left (northeast). Additional first floor openings obscured by porch. Side gables with square butt shingles, circular window at left (northeast) gable, brick chimney at interior. Side windows include 16/1, 9/1 double-hung wood sash, and wood casement. Telescoping rear additions, including carport added in 1984.

History: According to the 1980 survey, this cottage and the one at 17035 Coast Avenue West (Bay View, next door) were purchased by members of a band in Syracuse and used to house band members. The cottage is believed to have been built in two stages, starting with the kitchen and second floor in the late 1870s and followed by the front protion circa 1900.
