Description & Additional Information

Frame cottage, two stories, with irregular rectangular footprint and cross-gabled roof with lower pitched extensions over porch. Foundation concealed by decorative pierced-panel skirting; cove siding; asphalt shingle roof. Two-story wraparound porch, with highly decorated, chamfered posts; double rail, spindles over pierced panels; spindlework and pierced arched spandrels at central bays, spindlework and pierced brackets at outer bays; spindlework frieze. Decorative vergeboard and gingerbread ornamentation at gable trim, decorative exposed rafters. Gate to match porch rail at stairs. First-floor porch shelters three one-over-one double-hung windows, centered; single entry doors and two one-over-one windows at left and right sides. Rear projecting one-story porch similar to front porch, and two small one-story additions, compatible. Windows generally one-over-one double-hung. The second floor windows on both the west and east elevations are wood while both first and second floor windows on the north and south elevation are modern, double-pane synthetic windows. Vergeboard, whimsical gable trim, and pierced railing panels, added ca. 2010, were inspired by the style of historic elements that are seen on historic photographs but were lost when the porch was enclosed in the twentieth century (Steve Taylor, designer and builder of new porch elements).
