Description & Additional Information

One-story frame cottage with front-gabled roof, with Craftsman Bungalow massing; low eaves and half-timber decoration. Parged foundation under main part of house; pier foundation behind square lattice skirting at side porch. Cove and wood panel siding. Two-story, full-width front porch with shaped square posts; solid panel rail with decorative cross-brace stickwork at center panels. Matching decorative stickwork in gable. Porch shelters paired doors and windows at first and second floors. Hip-roofed recessed side porch on west side. Shed dormers on east and west sides with wood shingle siding and banks of awning windows. Narrow two-story addition on east side with cove siding. Cross-brace motifs continue around sides and rear. This house was extensively rehabilitated circa 2000, when the two-story porches were added in place of an earlier one-story porch; stickwork motif is an interpretation of decorative trim found at front gable, which was in place by 1980.

HIstory: The 1980 survey provided a circa 1879 construction date, but Sanborn maps indicate it was built between 1914 and 1924, which is consistent with its Craftsman character.
