Description & Additional Information

Frame cottage, two stories, with generally rectangular footprint and front-gabled roof. Foundation piers concealed by patterned flat-sawn skirting; wood cove siding; asphalt shingle roof. Full-width, two-story front porch, with one-story wraparound on south side; porch has square posts with arched brackets and diagonal X railing. Second-floor porch also has flared base with scalloped shingle skirt. Sawn scroll vergeboard; gable decoration has a spindle band, textured grid pattern, and drop at gable peak. Porch shelters central front door flanked by two-over-two wood windows at first floor, two doors at second floor. Side windows generally two-over-two wood sash. Complicated rear additions, including a shed-roofed one-story rear addition with false fronts on the north and south sides; there is also a one-story shed with metal roof, connected to the main building by a lower one-story hyphen with lattice siding and metal roof.

History: Sanborn maps show this was originally a freestanding shed, attached to the main cottage between 1905 and 1914.
