Frame cottage, two stories, with irregular rectangular footprint and complex roofline. Foundation concealed by vertical board skirting; wood shingle siding; asphalt shingle roof. Two-story, full-width front porch wraps left (southeast) corner. First-floor porch has square posts, square balusters, and wraparound pent overhang with flat-sawn decorative trim at fascia. Second-floor porch has chamfered posts; diagonal cross and pierced panel rail over flared shingle solid-sided base; flattened arch spandrels with pierced panels; delicate geometric stickwork and pierced panels above; flat-sawn decorative trim at fascia. Clipped-gable roofline at front with diminutive gabled dormer at peak. First-floor porch shelters double front doors, at center, paired square windows at right; porch also shelters secondary door at front of south projecting bay, plus paired double-hung windows at left side. Second-floor porch shelters single front door, at center, and awning window, at right. Two-story projecting wings, one bay wide by one bay deep, with cutaway corners and semi-pyramidal roofs with bracketed eaves, similar at left and right sides; left bay window has been modified at first-floor front. Side windows include two-over-two double-hung wood sash and awning windows. Shed-roof addition with entry porch, at rear right; another shed-roofed addition at rear. This building once had a tower in the northeast corner.
