Description & Additional Information

Frame cottage, two stories, with front gabled roof, built in multiple distinct phases. This is the easternmost cottage in Thousand Island Park and is situated on a waterfront site south of County Route 100, with the front oriented to the water (south). Concrete pier foundation; wood clapboard siding; asphalt shingle roof. First-floor enclosed front porch with a broad bank of windows, with a picture window at center flanked by sliding windows, extending nearly across the entire front; sliding windows at sides of porch. Pent overhang at top of first floor spans the front and wraps the sides. Screened second-floor front porch with three broad openings, above which is a horizontal vent in the gable. Two side entrances on east side, one recessed and one with shed-roofed overhang extending from the pent overhang. Two two-over-one windows above this second side entrance, with a gable-roofed dormer above containing a half-round window. Noncontributing due to age.

History: The original cottage, built by the present owners’ parents in 1954, was one story; part of which originated as a boathouse; the bank of first-floor windows and pent overhang are remnants of the original design, which was expanded to two stories by the current owners in the 2000s.
