Description & Additional Information

Contributing one-slip frame boathouse, 12 feet wide, with low-pitched, side-gabled roof with exposed rafter tails. Cove siding; membrane roofing. One boat slip and one door on west side facing river; these two openings occupy nearly the entire west side of the boathouse. Four-light window in gable on river side. North and south sides abut neighboring boathouses. One six-over-six wood window and one door on east side facing shore. Situated close to shore with narrow dock on shore side leading to shared stair. This boathouse is believed to be comparable in age to the neighboring “five sisters” boathouses (see below), which date to at least the early twentieth century; historic photographs and owner information suggest it may have had a gable roof matching those, changed to the current configuration after storm damage.

UPDATE: Boathouse described above has been rebuilt to match the adjoining 5 sisters. This row of boathouses originally had six units, and it does again now.
