Description & Additional Information

Contributing frame boathouse, 40 feet wide, composed of two adjoining parts that make up an irregular L-shaped footprint with a total of three slips. Larger part, closer to the water, has two slips and one door, with cove siding and flat roof with membrane roofing; one door and two two-over-two windows on north side; one two-over-two window on shore side. Crib foundation. Abutting the larger section, offset on the east (shore) side and projecting to the north. is a smaller section with a low-pitched gable roof with membrane roofing, cove siding; one slip opening on west side, one door on shore side, very close to shore; no openings on north side. These two sections create an irregular U shape with the adjacent boathouse to the south (5561). Like the adjacent boathouse, this one appears to match the footprint shown on the 1924 Sanborn map; the rear section may also appear on the 1905 and 1914 maps. The 1980 survey form for the corresponding cottage indicates the boathouse was built before 1923.
