Frame cottage, one story, with irregular rectangular footprint and cross-gabled roof. Foundation concealed by shingle skirting; clapboard siding; asphalt shingle roof. One-story full-width front porch wraps left (southwest) corner, with turned posts, paneled solid-sided rail, plain frieze band; screened; porch terminates at front of cross-gable wing. Fanlight and shingle siding in front gable. First-floor porch openings concealed by screen. Bay window at right with one-over-one cottage-style windows. Paired one-over-one windows and shingle siding in side gables. Side windows generally one-over-one double-hung wood sash. Rear gable-roofed addition with broad, six-light picture window and deck.

History: This cottage was built on the former site of the “Arlington” boarding house, which burned in 1912, just before the major fire that destroyed the Columbian Hotel.
