Description & Additional Information

Contributing boathouse with L-shaped footprint; combines multiple hipped and gabled roof forms. Cove and clapboard siding; asphalt shingle roof. Three boat slips on east side: two in long, narrow hip-roofed section that is the largest section of the boathouse, one in a cross-gable wing. Also two doors on this side. Three one-over-one windows on south side facing the river, plus the windowed (6 panes) gable end of a low rooftop addition that runs along the main ridgeline. One door on west side; one door on north side very close to shore. This boathouse, minus the cross-gable east section, is likely the same one shown in this location on the 1914 and 1924 Sanborn maps; smaller footprint on 1905 map. A photograph of this boathouse documenting significant damage in a 1981 storm shows there have been changes to the siding, windows and roof form since then, but it retains the characteristics of a historic boathouse.
